Pigs

image

I think they are pigs. I spotted them in the grounds of Chipstead Valley Primary School recently.

Inside the Royal Albert Hall

image

Listening to Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, in London last week.

I have updated this article, with a correction from chagmed, who pointed out to me that Tenzin Gyatso is the 14th, not 13th Dalai Lama.

The Grand Union Canal

image

Today I cycled a section of The Grand Union Canal between Tring and Hemel Hempsted. This part of the country is known as The Chilterns. The ride was quite pleasant, despite several showers, and I might cycle the entire length of the canal at some stage. According to the Canal Junction website (which has a nice map) it is only 137 miles (or 286 miles if you include the small branches that extend from it at various points). Of course it is also reasonably flat (although there are 166 locks, so there are some ups and downs).

I encountered friendly people along my ride - by friendly I mean people who greet and make conversation. I expect that the people might not be as friendly on other sections of the route.  What I didn’t like about parts of the route that I did today was that there was a noisy train line nearby. Parts of the towpath were also not as well maintained as others.

Tenzin Gyatso

image
image

The 14th Dalai Lama speaking today in London on the topic Real Change Happens in the Heart. The man next to him is an interpreter. From Friday the Dalai Lama will be in Scotland to conclude his visit to the UK. His visit was organised by Tibet Trust House in London. The official photographs from the talk are here (or will be shortly).

I have updated this article, with a correction from chagmed, who pointed out to me that Tenzin Gyatso is the 14th, not 13th Dalai Lama.

Torre Chameleon

image

I thought I would post this picture of Torre Agbar to show how it looks quite different in different light, and when not lit up.
