Dangerous London Bus - LJ53BAO

A bus overtaking a cyclist at that speed should leave more room.  I was physically shaken by the slipstream of that bus, which incidentally had a whole lane at its disposal, but the driver seemed to be making some point (conciously or unconciously?) because he/she was actually “swiping” at me by moving across the lane line while passing.

Buzzed by a motorcyclist in Woldingham

This was not a safe pass, for either of us.

Parisian Sex Shop

Voulez vous faire du zapping avec moi?

I had to stop and take a photograph of this shop on Saturday, as the franglais word zapping jumped out at me. Whatever could it mean?

A bit of searching reveals that it refers to what I would call channel-hopping:

*Definition: *(TV) to channel-hop, (radio) to change stations rapidly

From the sign on the shop window, it presumably also refers to short clips from a video.  Reality is always less exciting than one’s imagination. Some form of electric shock “treatment” had come to my mind.

My first experiences cycling in Paris

Over 200 miles after leaving home, and after entering Paris via five forests and parks, we had one mile of Parisian streets (and traffic) to negotiate to the Eiffel Tower.  This video shows some of the traffic infractions I encountered on that mile.  It was everything I expected, and to be fair the aggression of the drivers was of the slow getting-in-your-way fashion (rather than the fast-and-under-the-wheels kind).

Regarding the cyclist jumping the red light, this is an article explaining its legality in Paris.

The view from the Champs du Mars

On Saturday afternoon, after 4 days, and over 300 km, of cycling to Paris.
