Patience is a Virtue

Some patience and some impatience on display here.  The yellow car exceeded the speed limit of 30 mph.

High Speed Chase

This driver must be a very important man, on very important business. He was in such a hurry.

I believe that he was going a bit too fast (not driving according to conditions) and as you can see he even spooked the elderly couple coming in the opposite direction.  After their little experience with him, they swapped drivers.

I can’t believe it’s not better!

image

This is the pothole (top) which destroyed my tube and cracked my tyre on Friday evening. The pothole had previously been reported to Surrey County Council on 5th March 2014, reference number MG00563789.

The photo below is of the same pothole this morning after Mike Dawson, Customer Sevices and Improvement Manager (sic) on behalf of Surrey County Council reported back to me that the pothole has now been repaired.

I can’t tell the difference. Can you tell the difference? What I can tell is that between Surrey County Council, and their subcontractors, someone is as slippery as butter.

Bloody Cyclist Holds Up Cars

Look at the “point-making cyclist”, holding up all this traffic.

Ukrainian Restaurants Near Philanthropic Road, Redhill

image

Is Google stupid?  I have already given up on Amazon and E-Bay continually trying to suggest items that I have no interest in.  Amazon is classic with its “You bought this soft-cover book once. Now you might like to buy the same book in hardcover. Oh look, there are two editions. Why don’t you buy both?”.

I was searching in Google Maps for Philanthropic Road, Redhill (the scene of my previous post), when (as it likes to do) it proposed the alternative search text “Ukrainian Restaurants near Philanthropic Road, Redhill”. Now I’m not interested in anything Ukrainian but I thought this was worth a gander.  It turns out there are no Ukrainian restaurants nearby. Not to be deterred, Google Maps proposed some other eating and sleeping places - some of which are quite far from Philanthropic Road.

It turns out that Philanthropic Road gets it’s name from the Philanthropic Society Farm which used to be here.

* OK, I lied. I do have some Ukrainian interests.  I thoroughly enjoyed A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian (don’t let the dusty title put you off - it’s hilarious).

Bloody Cyclist Uses the Road

Look at this “point-making cyclist”, using the actual road, holding up a driver by a couple of seconds.

Overtaking in Oxted

I was only slightly alarmed at the time the driver overtook me. I wasn’t afraid, because she wasn’t speeding.  Also on reviewing the footage I noticed that she was generally patient and only made the one mistake. I wasn’t even aware at the time that after the incident she had followed me patiently and at a safe distance for quite a while.

Bicycle parking

image

It confuses me that people would park their bicycles here overnight.
