Meals to accompany beer

image

Only in Prague do they seem to prioritise food and drink selection in this way.

Malostranská pivnice

I wasn’t that impressed with the beer here, but it appeared to be made on the premises.

St Wenceslas Grave

image

In the centre of this chapel, of St Francis, is a gravestone marking the grave of Wenceslas I. The chapel is part of the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia convent founder, and sister of Wenceslas I (he of the “Good king” Christmas carol).

Strangely, the Cathedral of St. Vitus, St. Wenceslas and St. Adalbert (pictured below) which is found within the grounds of Prague Castle also claims to hold the grave of Wenceslas I.

Wenceslas was murdered in a plot orchestrated by his brother Boleslav who then assumed the Bohemian throne.  Wenceslas is a subject of a King in the Mountain legend, which has it that the king and a “sleeping army” will arise under certain conditions and fight off Czech enemies.
