A Startled Horse

This illustrates why drivers should slow down when passing horses, even if the horse and rider have moved off the carriageway. Not only does the car risk startling the horse, but something else might also alarm the horse and this could lead to trouble.

When the horse started getting jumpy I thought at first that it was the car that caused it, but the rider told me that the barking dog had startled her horse.
