On Monday morning I awoke in Barcelona. This was not suprising as I went to sleep here on Sunday night. That evening I managed to go for a walk along the promenade, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the sea. On Monday evening it was too wet to repeat this exercise even if I had had the time.

Imagine going to sleep in a town one night, and waking up somewhere else the next morning. Could make a good plot device for a fantasy novel.

I actually sometimes get a strange feeling akin to that.

When waking up (normally in an unusual bed/location) I imagine myself to be somewhere else (normally home), and I have a sudden “realisation” just before or after opening my eyes that my location and orientation is different.

It’s a strange feeling of readjustment. What I would imagine the characters of Star Trek would experience when “beaming” up or down from their ship.
