Ashby Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights

This evening I was feeling too stiff to do my evening jog, so I drove into Ashby to the Fairtrade evening market at the Methodist Church Hall.  This is run under the auspices of Tearfund, a Christian Aid Charity.  I bought a few month’s supply of muesli, some coffee and small gifts.  Some of the Christmas cards looked interesting, but all included verses from the Bible which always turns me off in a card.

On the way out I took this photo of the Ashby Christmas Lights in Market Street (the high street). All the lights are arranged on Christmas Trees which are sticking out of the shop buildings. The lights do not have a consistent theme: it is as if each shop decided on their own what lights to hang out. Overall the effect is pleasant, but it is hardly stylish or elegant.
