Hug a policeman day

Last Sunday was National Police Memorial Day, which commemorates the more than 4000 police officers who have lost their lives in the modern policing era (the last 180 years) and the 7 police who have died so far this year in the line of duty. This young woman in York decided to have a photo taken with a police officer who was standing on duty on the Monkgate approach before the service, which was held this year in the York Minster.

Reports of the event, which has been held since 2004 in the UK, are here and here.
