Kid walking home

Outside my office in Barcelona there is a large square with a playground (or two) in the middle, a large pedestrianised area, and two narrow lanes (with restricted vehicle access) which indicate that at a previous time this “square” was a busy road. The street has therefore been reduced in capacity and it seems that only residents can use it now. It is nice to have the children running around, playing, cycling, and zipping around on scooters when you leave the office (not visible here as I left the office much earlier than normal today). There are invariably also groups of carers hanging around and chatting while the kids play together.  By restricting private vehicles the authorities have made the area more pleasant for inhabitants and visitors, safer, healthier, and reduced traffic volumes overall.
