Sports Soccer

The Fosse Shopping Centre is a retail park just off junction 21 of the M1, near Leicester.  On Thursday evening I visited the Sports Soccer shop in this centre (see photo above).  A handwritten sign at the entrance invites people to apply for staff positions at the rate of £5,50 per hour.

The current staff are rude and lazy, possibly because they are paid only 5,50 per hour and receive no training.  In any case the company and the management must take ultimate responsibility for the lack of service culture in this shop.  Actually my experience in this particular outlet was not unique: I had the same experience in one of their other stores.  I am not posting this entry to complain, but as a reminder to myself to avoid the insides of any shop called Sports Soccer in future.

There are alternatives.

And in Sydney.  A local Hi-Fi shop finally closed its doors.  I was not surprised because twice I’d been in there to buy something and each time been repelled by the shop manager to managed to find something to argue with me about.
