la grue

garden

Now that it is light a bit more in the mornings, I am opening the shutters to greet the sunrise before heading off to work. So imagine my surprise when I saw this monster, which in real life looks loomingly over the back garden of Chez Wolff. We had some more snow today, and as I type it is still snowing fairly heavily outside. I don’t think it is very sticky though.

Another surprise was to look at my web-logs ... I mean web server statistics ... and see that someone out there came to bluemeanie via a search engine, using the search phrase nelson mandela personality. Something like this is a challenge to me, so I set off to Google and tried to replicate this.  Voila, the last entry on page 15 of the Google results pointed to our very own ScarlettMewn has a rubrique called Google Wish where he answers the questions that somebody has posed on Google to come to his site.

Well, I don’t know what question is posed by the phrase nelson mandela personality that isn’t answered during the 15 pages of Google links that it takes before one serendipitiously arrives at Scarlett’s political profile test.  In any case, perhaps I should leave a little statement here for the next person to come along with a similar question. I have never met Nelson Mandela, although I have seen him in the flesh on several occasions. The first time was on his release from prison on 11 February 1990 when along with many other people I waited patiently for a few hours to hear his his first public speech in many years. You can read an account of this on the BBC Witness site by a relative of mine, entitled Greeting the ‘father of a nation’.

I have guessed that the visitor to this site was searching for information relating to Nelson Mandela’s release (given the proximity to the date), but just in case I can add that he has a Cancerian star sign, having been born on 18 July. He is also a human being with a high degree of both wisdom & compassion. A special person for our time.
