la tombe de Delius

Grave of Fritz Albert Theodor Delius

This afternoon, after a shopping excursion with Pinkie, we stopped at St Peter’s graveyard in Limpsfield. There are a few “famous” people buried there, including the composer Frederick Delius (1862 - 1934) who is buried with his wife Jelka (née Rosen (1868 - 1935) who was a painter.  Delius originally had the full name of Fritz Albert Theodor Delius.  From 1897 until his death, he and his wife lived near Fontainebleau in France and it amazes me that they are both buried in Limpsfield which is 510 km from Delius’ place of death (via today’s motorways).

You can read a short bio about Delius (and his wife) at Posted by bigblue on 25/04/2004 at 08:36 PM
