Old Oxted to New Oxted, via Hever

Here’s a fast-motion view of yesterday’s cycle ride, from Old Oxted to Hever and back to (New) Oxted. The trip is approx. 38 km, and I did it in approx. 2 hours 8 minutes at an average speed of approx. 18 km/h.

The unfortunate incident of road rage occurs at 2 minutes 44 seconds into the video.  It looked like the driver was going to hit me (because I objected loudly and strongly) to his dangerous pass, but he just acted menacingly and called me a prat. Even he couldn’t spoil the ride.  What I enjoyed most about the ride was seeing all the “upsidedown trees” (a feature of this time of the year). What I enjoyed least about the ride (besides for the menace) was getting my feet soaked (in a flooded road) 10 minutes into the ride and then cycling the rest of the way with cold feet.

Trivial festive facts:

You should be able to spot: 1 donkey (and cart), 2 flooded roads, 3 railway bridges, 4 motorcyclists, 5 chelsea tractors, 6 horses, 7 children, 8 dogs, 9 potholes, 10 cyclists, 11 intersections and 12 farm gates in the video.

Here is a map of the route I took:
