Riverside cycling in York

This is a lovely stretch of riverside walk/ride, but unfortunately there is too much potential for conflict between cyclists and pedestrians. Probably both groups need to have their wits about them, and cyclists need to go slowly.

One of the things I don’t like about the Sustrans cycle routes (this riverside section is part of Route 65) is that they disappoint by not being proper dedicated cycle paths. The approach is often to slap some paint (bicycle icons) on the tarmac, or to put up some signage.
