Surrey’s magic cycle lanes

So I can see why drivers tend to ignore Surrey Council’s so-called cycle lanes. They are strips of white paint that provide no proper cycle path at all. The painted cycle paths are not contiguous and appear and reappear at whim. This one lasts a couple of hundred metres on the A25 near Godstone, then disappears where cycling infrastructure is probably most needed (by cyclists).  When they are inconvenient, or a driver feels that keeping out of the lane could slow them down, they are ignored. But there is no excuse for ignoring the cyclist!
