The Entrepid Cyclist

I recently wrote about the velib “free” bicycle hire scheme in Paris.

At the Arc de Triomphe on Sunday I noticed this brave cyclist come down the Champs Ellysee and navigate the formidable traffic circle around the site.

Bravo. His other options were to push the bike through the pedestrian underpass or to take a less direct route using one of the safer, circular roads around the monument. Given the throngs of tourists in the area, the underpass was probably not a good choice on Sunday evening.
