The view from my lawn


My neighbour grumbled at me, “When are you going to do something about your weeds?”. I had to point out that a weed is a plant that is in a place that you don’t want it to be, and that as I had planted these wildflowers they could not be weeds. She was unconvinced and tried to tell me that some of them were weeds.  I pointed out that the bees and the butterflies like these wildflowers but she says they also like the flowers that she grows in her garden (which are not weeds, obviously).

Disappointed in my response she withdrew from the discussion. I expect that she will come back and complain again sometime.
