Warlington

image

As seen in the news lately. Not Warlingham or Wallington mind, but an imaginary place in the direction of both of them.  This name reminded me of Suw Charman’s Argleton, a short story about a fictitious place that appeared on Google Maps.  Perhaps the latest Apple maps, being riddled with errors, will inspire her to write a sequel.

This roadsign was drawn to my attention on Wednesday morning by BBC Surrey on Twitter:

Warlington

The on air discussion of this roadsign, and similar bloopers, can be listened to for the next 3 days: here.  It starts 120 minutes into the programme.
