It’s a beautiful evening, but it’s the end of a long week and I’m glad to be heading home.
Schiphol is the fourth busiest airport in Europe. It has 6 runways (and a 7th is planned). London Heathrow Airport fortunately still only has two runways.

The railway logo here in the Netherlands reminds me a bit of the “double arrow” British Rail logo for railway stations, which was adopted in January 1965 (according to Wikipedia). The Netherlands railway logo was adopted in 1968, and although Wikipedia doesn’t suggest this I am tempted to feel that the Dutch designers copied the main concepts of the British one.

It’s a beautiful day. After the nightmare of sleeping in the hotel opposite the town clock (think “bong” every 30 minutes) it was a pleasant walk to the train station. My colleagues say a little local knowledge goes a long way: they had asked for rooms facing the back of the hotel. Mine overlooked the town square.
